gladiatorseatfire	[hopeless] "i never wanted to let it get this far" [hopeless] started with a harsh, four-chord, off kilter progression. it turned into something more meaningful than it was originally intended to be. the song is an example of the duality and futility of a couple’s bickering and how it escalates beyond the intentions of either party involved. that pretty guitar riff that starts the song off, that was done by BRIAN of GLADIATORS EAT FIRE, who played the part of second guitarist for awhile. he was even the drummer for a stint, as well as bassist. and that harsh off-tempo bridge, was inspired by a simple hand motion done by JOHN PFAFF. this quarrel's growing old same old bullshit that we both said that we'd let go and on and on and on and on we'll go we'll fight on and on and on and on 'til we both find another's bed [chorus] i never wanted to let it get this far and now you think it's all my fault you think it's hopeless i know it's worth this i can't believe that you won't try at all when there's nothing left to say i turn to speak with you but you just look the other way we both know we haven't let it go i place my arm around your waist as you dry your eyes to turn to say [chorus]
